- Since its foundation 1942 by acclaimed artist Fathy Mahmoud, the Egyptian German Porcelain Company has developed into lifestyle staple. Once a humble earthenware factory in Cairo, the porcelain powerhouse has evolved into one of the most significant porcelain manufacturers in the world. Fathy Mahmoud, known for his expertise as well as his multiple lauded works of art around Egypt, took it upon himself to provide ‘art for millions,’ by way of porcelain. He expanded to the city of Alexandria and founded the plant. After his passing in 1982, it was up to his successor to carry the torch from there. The plant saw massive, impressive expansions under the careful eye of Sayed Fathy Mahmoud.
